Teacher Training at St. Andrew’s

At St. Andrew’s (Barnsbury) we have supported Initial Teacher Training (ITT) for a number of years. This involves student teachers from different universities coming to the school on placement and being mentored by the class teachers. We value the links we have made with a number of different providers as we are very happy to help produce our future teachers!

Supporting ITT is a two-way street as it not only helps to support and cultivate the student teachers in readiness for the classroom, it also benefits our staff as it develops their key skills in mentoring and coaching. The pupils also enjoy working with students who come to us with different life experiences and from diverse backgrounds thus bringing a fresh perspective to the children’s learning.

Currently we work with the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS) School Centred Initial Teacher Training programme (SCITT), London South Bank University (LSBU) and Middlesex University.
