Guildhall Art Gallery - Year Three
Year Three visited the Guildhall Art Gallery to take part in a workshop titled Women in the Picture. During the visit, the children explored and discussed a variety of paintings, learning about historical gender inequality in the art world, including the fact that only a small percentage of artists were female. They brought their learning to life by creating freeze frames inspired by still-life compositions, and also had the opportunity to view a range of sculptures.
As part of the visit, the children explored the remains of the Roman amphitheatre, adding a fascinating historical dimension to their day. The pupils were highly enthusiastic when recalling their experiences and clearly gained a great deal from this enriching visit.
