St Andrew's (Barnsbury) CofE Primary School

York Class (Reception)

I

In Reception we have lots of fun, while we learn through play!

We want your child to enjoy school, because we feel that happy children are ready to learn. We do this by creating a stimulating, fun and educational environment where children can play, explore and investigate in real life situations. We are very keen to ensure your child develops the skills to become an independent learner.

We like to spend a good part of the school day outdoors, where children can learn through child-initiated activities.

The Foundation Stage Framework is broken down into three prime areas;

  • Personal, Social, Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

as well as four specific areas;

  • Maths
  • Literacy
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

We ensure that children are provided with a wide range of opportunities to explore these areas through fun topics that relate to their interests.

We are sure your child will have a happy, healthy, safe and exciting start to their learning journey at St. Andrew's C.E. Primary School.
